My son played in the playpen as I worked 12-hour days in sanding floors as well as removing the wallpaper. Ha! The house was starting to look good, but there were still many things left. To furnish the home, it was going to be a huge effort both in time and money. Also, I had go to my favorite stores. To stay on budget I began attending estate sales along with my three boys searching for gems hidden in the dirt. Every week, we would stroll through estate and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture. Then I would spend working on my projects on our front lawn. It was a bit like the picture below... That's where my passion for restoring furniture began. When our home was fully furnished, I could not quit! I had a stand at the local market and even sold some items there. Then I bought more that I could decide how to use them and outgrew the space. Open houses were held in my home where one 000 people could visit during a weekend. visitors could buy anything from the first level. Growing Days was created in the home. Not only was my business thriving but I was growing our family of four. As a young mom, I found the right way to be able to begin my own business and also be a good mother. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora came into our lives in 2013 as our 4th baby. The direction my company was heading was excellent, however I was forced to rest for a while. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and slow down to stay at home with the children. At the time, it was exactly what I needed. After a few minutes, my phone began getting busy. Many people called me to ask for advice regarding home improvements and decor. A majority of those calling me were from those who attended one of the furniture open houses. The time flew by before I had a fully-fledged home renovation company. I began by taking clients on one in a manner that I was confident in. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if you had said that this would become the basis of the DIY Network tv series. Actually, I smile slightly when I recall the story.
